You are probably right Steve. Hemingway wanted to fight the Nazi's. His contact with the KGB began with the start of Operation Barbarosa. He had the guts to go to Spain and deserves praise for this.

This is no great surprise, since I have always maintained that Hemingway was a bit left leaning. However, he was no communist and I believe his travels during the war were a lot more important to the Allied cause than is sometimes realized.
